miniFactory™ 3D Printer 2.0

The miniFactory™ 3D printer is a complete 3D printer starter set with which you can take your first step into the magnificent realm of 3D printing technology. miniFactory™ 3D printer is designed for home users, hobbyists and educators.

miniFactory™ 3D printer is a 3D printer for everyone. It turns your imagination into reality easier than you ever dreamed of. The miniFactory™ 3D printer is safe and easy to use: just choose a model, or create your own, and the printer will turn it into a tangible three dimensional thing. As long as it fits the printing area, you can pretty much create anything: a robot, a game token, a phone cover or a Millennium Falcon with a banana for scale.

The miniFactory™ 3D beta was a huge success and sold out quickly. The new, improved miniFactory™ 3D printer 2.0 is in production and will revolutionize 3D printing again.

How does it work?

The miniFactory™ 3D prints in 3D. So instead of spraying ink on paper it creates three dimensional objects by melting plastic filament on very fine layers stacked on top of each other. The miniFactory™ 3D software turns a 3D-model into instructions for the printer, which it then follows layer by thin layer finally producing your yellow Pikachu (that is what you are going to print first, isn’t it?).

What can it make?

Pretty much anything you can come up with. There are very few limitations, other than it must fit on the printing surface and that you can make a 3D model out of it. So extra dimensional worm holes are still a no-no, but you can make tools, miniature space ships, weighed dice, doorknobs, fake teeth or hypno toads.

Oh yeah, and you can’t make your creations breathe.

What material does it use?

The default material is 1.75 mm PLA, but the miniFactory™ 3D can also handle ABS, Nylon or Laywood. So basically all standard 3D printing materials.

The geeks at our lab keep rolling out new colors and new materials on a regular basis, so follow our web site and discussion forum for any new cool stuff. Or just use the PLA, as it is bio-degradable, comes in 5 colors, and is available here.

How do I get started?

  1. Get your own the miniFactory™ 3D and PLA filament spool right here.
  2. Download a model from Thingiverse.com or create your own with a 3D modeling software.
  3. Open your model in the miniFactory™ 3D sotware.
  4. Press PRINT.
  5. Be hypnotized.

Video from miniFactory™ Youtube channel shows time-lapse of 3D printing thing called ”cute octopus says hello” from Thingiverse.

Experiment. Create. Share

You can kick off your career as a creator by downloading some models from the 20 000+ item free library at www.thingiverse.com where users around the globe have shared their 3D printable models free of charge. When you get the hang of things, you can start creating your own ideas with free 3D modeling software like Cookie Caster.

There is a myriad of software options, so just pick one, mold your ideas into models, and if you want, share them with the world.

miniFactory™ 3D as a learning environment

Get to know the technology of tomorrow with your own miniFactory™ 3D. Three dimensional printing will be integrated into research, development, studying and work in no time soon. With your miniFactory™ 3D you can be a step ahead of the competition for the future.

Or you can just have fun tinkering with it, and enjoy being the CEO of your very own factory.

Specs

Printing area, materials, colors and costs

The printing area is 6x6x6 inches, which allows you to print bigger objects than any other end user 3D printer on the market.

Start printing with the PLA 1.75 mm filament, which you can find in our web store in 5 basic colors: black, white, clear, translucent blue and red. There will be more colors available in the near future, including glossy and phosphorescent colors.

All software bundled with the printer are free to use, so the only costs of use come from the print material.

Print quality and speed

The default print settings let you go right ahead and print your first objects with PLA 1.75 filament. When you want to try out different print materials or more advanced models, you might want to change print temperature, quality and other settings.

All settings are easily modifiable with the bundled software. Check out our discussion forum for ideas what you can do with the settings.
